With the blaze of summer over, the sun changes its tune and sings a lower note. The trees change their leaf color as nature displays its evolution for us to witness. It’s almost as if encouraging us to do the same.
You see, trees don’t only adopt a warmer palette; they shed what no longer serves them. It’s a whole awakening, even though it goes on on the outside. But this kind of transformation isn’t only reserved for foliage. For us, it happens within.
Even though the days are shorter and the nights grow longer, the darkness is nothing to fear. It’s not emptiness but a vessel of answers waiting for us to listen.
Sit in your darkness and talk to your shadow. The void that follows you carries the missing pieces of your unique puzzle, the parts of yourself you may not want to accept or acknowledge. But these truths hold the most power, the ones that can help you become who you are truly meant to be.
Trees don’t hold onto leaves out of fear of who they’ll become without them. They let go because it’s in their best interest—without this part of the progress, we wouldn’t have the changing seasons.
When it comes down to it, nature is there to teach and encourage us to follow its path. It wants us to embrace change how it does: to shed our skin so we can grow anew.
