Just a bit of a warning before you dive in…this newsletter is a tad different than what you’d normally receive. I see it as a good thing; I’ve become disappointed in myself for treating this space like I would a client website. I wanted it to be as infrequent as I am, constantly evolving and shifting. It’s become too polished in how the content’s formatted and limited in the types of it. So, as soon I logged on and started this fresh draft, I let my thoughts spill onto the page. Enjoy the disjointed yet freeing piece below.
☁️ Remember that perfectionism doesn’t exist; it’s only a concept. Nature isn’t perfect, so why are we striving to be?
☁️ Creativity and perfectionism don’t exist in the same realms. The latter is in the ether of our minds, probably created by thinking of others’ work or lives as flawless when, in fact, they’re riddled with them. Social media is an excellent disguise, and we’d be wise to remember that reality is in front of us, not on a screen.
☁️ We choose to see things differently—a blessing and a curse. Creativity opens our eyes, while perfectionism keeps them shut.
☁️ I keep trying to “do things right” when writing. What does that even mean? I ask myself that question on repeat as of late. It’s probably perfectionism pairing up with my inner critic to keep me professional when really, I just want to write like a five-year-old and see the world like one too.
☁️…This reminds me of a quote by Picasso about how it took him a lifetime to paint like a child.
☁️ This disjointed article makes my chest scream. So badly I want to format it traditionally; intro, body paragraphs, and conclusion. But this is my sacred space to share my thoughts; they’re anything but neat.
☁️ I remember the time I used to write articles like this for my old blog, back in the days of WordPress. Did I think about format then? Nope, I did my own thing. Guess I should embrace my Aries Moon more often than combat it.
☁️ You don’t need permission to do what your heart tells you, but if you think you need it, I give it to you. This is your permission to be unabashedly creative, just as I’ve done. (It feels pretty darn good.)
P.S.: On a whim, I created a YouTube channel called Wildflwrs on My Mind! I plan to feature more poetry videos (there’s one up already) and maybe playlists. Please take a look and let me know what you think!
Thank you for reading! If you enjoyed this, please share with a friend, subscribe, or buy me a coffee (read: soda). Any form of support is greatly appreciated. 🤍
Thanks
Great reminder that we don’t have to be perfect and to have fun!🤪
