Another month means another prompt! This one invites you into the present, into your surroundings, encouraging you to listen. Let whichever element you identify with most guide you in its secret wisdom.
How to use: These journaling prompts have two parts. Feel free to write (in a journal, on a virtual page, or even in the comments below!) to both or one. Use them however you like; this is yours. I’ve also included my responses as open arms to welcome vulnerability and embrace courage in this endeavor.

Part I: Reflect on a natural element (air, water, earth, fire) that resonates with you. What feelings or memories does it evoke?
Part II: Imagine this element is trying to teach you something about your current life and situation. What message might it have, and how can you apply it?
I recently found out my birthday falls on a cusp—Aquarius-Pisces, to be exact. It’s aptly named The Cusp of Sensitivity, bringing forth more comfort in my sensitive nature. It’s been a journey embracing that part of myself when it’s often regarded as a weakness.
But that could be why I’m drawn to birds and airy, ethereal elements. Whether it’s a common pigeon or red-chested housefinches, my ears perk up, and my attention flutters to the notes of their songs.
Then, watching them take to the sky makes me almost envious yet encouraging. This weird mix of emotions makes me yearn for my own wings (as if they were missing from birth), but I’m glad our sky friends have the freedom they do.
This world is a beautifully ugly mess. While I can’t take off in a single swoosh, I can close my eyes and envision myself amongst the clouds, their cool wisps surrounding warm flesh, and the overwhelming weightlessness only those with wings can experience.
Having your head metaphorically in the clouds may be seen as a bad thing, but that’s when the birds flourish. They can travel, they can dream, they can start anew. And so can I.
And so can you.
