Lemon Boy
A poem about the struggle for fulfillment in a relationship that fades to emptiness
We’ve all felt an intoxicating connection that gradually withers into nothingness. This poem captures the rollercoaster ride of highs and lows that eventually dissolve into emptiness. (Also, I got the title from a plant at Home Depot; I think it fits perfectly!)

Sour at first bite
But sweet on the finish
An intoxicating jolt
Slowly slips down my throat
Heavy to hold
Just as the stars foretold
I can’t make a home
In a hollowed heart
And ecstasy alone
