This poem personally emerged from a difficult period in my life, reflecting the lingering emotions following the end of a relationship. As I was brainstorming content ideas for this month's newsletter, centered around the theme of the color red, I couldn't help but recall this poem.
Reflecting on the symbolism of the color red, from its association with July's birthstone, ruby, to its representation of danger, love, and urgency, I found a deeper appreciation for the poem's journey. It's a testament to the growth and resilience that can stem from challenging experiences, transforming painful reminders into sources of strength.

Red cars, red cars
All I see
Are memories of you
And pieces of my heart
Your favorite color
Your breath always near
I still feel your touch
Red marks, red marks
But now
When I wear a red lip
I think of strength
Not you
I’m free
I’m free
